The weather...

...is shitty.

There is too much snow, too much precipitation, too much bad weather for this time of the year. Few summit attempts succeed. The guides are worried, especially those who are being pressured by their clients to go up no matter what (which is what happened to that guide who died with one of his clients earlier this month). I am very fortunate to be with Lito. He is experienced and safe. He will do everything to make sure we are fine. If that means sacrificing the summit, then be it. We'll go as high as we can safely and it will have been wonderful nonetheless.

This is the last day to be able to use the internet, tomorrow we move to the high camps. Camp 1 tomorrow, at about 4850m, camp 2 on Saturday, at about 5300m, and camp 3 on Sunday, at nearly 6000m. Summit day is Monday the 27th, if the weather is good. You can go check out the weather on one of the following 2 sites: www.aconcaguanow.com or www.refugioplazademulas.com.ar That way you can see whether we will be attempting or not. We have Tuesday and Wednesday too, to wait out bad weather, but it is so hard to sleep up there, that after 2 days people are usually too exhausted to try and just go back down.

The latest you should hear from is the 31st, that is when we are supposed to be back in Mendoza. And hopefully, when I will be able to put pictures up!
